New to Fordbarn
As a teenager I always wanted a Model A. We had a family friend that traveled the local area selling insurance and she discovered a 1930 Coupe under a shed on one of her routes. My grandfather tried to buy the car from the young man whose grandfather had purchased it new but the young guy wouldn't sell. After a few months the guy called and had decided to sell the car in order to buy Christmas gifts for his kids. He had just made my Christmas!!! This was in 1971. My grandfather said that he had bought the car for me but actually he was enjoying it more than anyone.
Together we did a frame up restoration. in April 1973 my grandfather had all new glass installed, came home and took a nap, and after his nap died of a massive heart attack. The car sat for many years but a few years ago I got really interested in it again. I went back through the car and also gave it a new paint job that I did myself and a new interior. I have been reading this forum and enjoying it very much. I have learned some things I would never have known otherwise. I feel fortunate to have this car and will never part with it. I will post pictures when I figure out how to do it. Sorry for the long post. |
