Default Turn signal mounting options

A recent post about turn signals is timely for me as I'm getting ready to make alterations for easier and safer driving of my '29 CCPU. I'm curious how most of you set the column mount up, it seems awkward to me to have two levers (turn and advance) so close to each.

Weighing some options:
Shorten my advance lever
Go to a seat riser push button select (rather not)
Upgrade to a modern advance dist. and loose the lever (but advancing down
while idling to hear the engine exhaust is one of my fav things about the "A")

What do you guys do?

I installed the switch on the column so it is about an inch lower than the advance but the switch is about one and a half inches longer so no problem.
I like the switch in the same place as I'm use to in my modern cars.

X2 here.

At first, I thought it would be awkward to have two levers on the left and have them different lengths. but you get used to it real fast. It really does not create a problem for me at all. I also mounted my turn signal switch about an inch down the column from the advance.

I would not make any modifications to any of the existing features of the car simply to accommodate a turn signal switch. That being said, many have cleverly hidden the switch and the indicator lights. bu I have not gone that far for mine, but mine is not a show car. 95% of all the model A's I have seen just have the switch mounted on the column.

Logo lites offers an LED kit. The lights mount on the bumpers and the control is a small box that attaches to the gas tank with a magnet behind the dash to the left of the steering column. It has 2 buttons, left for left turn and right for right turn. If you push both simultaneously you get 4 way hazard flashers. At about $200 they are more expensive than other kits. I plan to put them on mine when I get that far.

I have the Tickin' Through Time system, and I think Bratton or snyder now sell it also. A black box is mounted behind the kick panel, or on the inside of the firewall, or under the seat, and the control switch is a tiny toggle switch mounted on the gear shift lever, where it is real easy to control.

I also have Logolites and really like them, however. I was disappointed that they are not compatible with the Brakeliter rear window brake light/turn signal bar.

On my driver '28 pickup I mounted the signal lever straight up on the column so it wouldn't interfere with the spark & throttle, very handy.

Ditto

FWIW, I also think that the bumper mounted lights are way too low to be seen properly, except at night.

Why deviate? Because the signal stat looks like hell, and my tiny toggle switch on the shift lever looks good, and is very convienent to use, as I am often changing gear when taking a turn.

i mounted mine down 6 inches from the steering wheel putting it in a simliar location as newer cars. I dont like the looks of extra lights so my trun signals are in my head lights and in my tails

edit: I guess I do like extra lights seeing I have an extra tail light to make my system work.

Why deviate? Because it just does not look good. It looks out of place, kind of a clunky look.

Just because people do things for a loooooong time doesn't make it right.

I too run the Log lights and really like them. I don't remember how I did it but I did wire my brake lighter and everything works great. The control box is kind of a pain to reach but all in all I like the set up.

GOOD point, Katy,
Never mounted them, but I bought 2 little streamlined, amber lamps, stud mounted. I "thought" about mounting them on the "A" post, just under the upper hinge, for SAFETY! My car was a Coupe. On a Fordor, "maybe" they would work, below the rear door, upper hinge????---OR on top of 2 STUBBY Antennas, mounted on the bumper???--NO FOXTAILS!---LOL

Were you able to incorporate the turn signals into the Brakelighter or just the brake light?
