Carburetor Choke Shaft
I am new to the Model A world. I decided to tackle rebuilding my Zenith carburetor. I think I did a good job at it except the carburetor choke shaft broke when I was putting the choke arm nut on. I have ordered parts and awaiting their arrival. I haven’t tried taking it apart yet again.
My question is this: Will the choke shaft remove easily once I remove the choke plate? Or will it need some muscle or special tool to remove it? Thanks in advance. Kit |

Re: Carburetor Choke Shaft
Welcome to the Model A world!
The choke shaft will come right out. Some people stake the screws that hold the butterfly plate into the shaft. Look at them. You may need to grind the tips off to get the screws to back out. Not a problem. I have a Dremel tool and a small stone. They are very handy for all aspects of restoration. Feel free to drop me an email with questions any time.

Re: Carburetor Choke Shaft
The choke shaft will come out easily after the choke plate is removed, at least that is the way it has worked for me . The choke plate screws can be hard to remove . Make sure that the screw driver that you use fits the slot in the screw as close as possible. I have used the torch to heat the heads of the screws red hot , be carefull .

Re: Carburetor Choke Shaft
Get red hot-hit with cold water-will come out almost by hand! Screws that is!
