Museum Closing........

ALL: The Tupelo Automobile Museum, Tupelo, Mississippi), founded by my late friend, Frank Spain, and now overseen by his gracious wife, is now in a closing status: there are several hundred cars and trucks, all in pristine condition, that will be auctioned in April 2019 (Exact Dates TBD). Wayne Carini has expressed an interest in some of them, and is (I think) providing guidance on auction pricing. The collection is quite eclectic and includes everything from very early to late model rarities, to include a Tucker. These vehicles were driven regularly, as Frank wanted them all is proper operating condition.
I have no personal interest in the closing and sale of this museum, but probably will attend as there are several that I would like to acquire for my collection (such as it is!)

BTW: All proceeds from the sale will go to an educational foundation.

I saw that on the internets the other day. Hopefully they don't get stuffed away in a private collection.

Topher5150: pretty sure some of them will, as the more rare and exotic models are not usually affordable for us peons! However, there are also a fair number of what are truly fun cars, easily placed in use for the same purpose we use ours: pure enjoyment. I have my eye on a 57 Retractible, among others, and like JM 35, actually drive the toys like we stole them (poor English, but you get the point)!

RE "museum tried several times to boost attendance" ???

I wonder what methods they tried - I never heard of it before today and had family I visited in the area for years.
The location is a little off the beaten track but I22 opened a few years ago and I never saw any billboard advertising in my trips.

The Hemmings article is interesting.
Comments from locals indicate it was not well advertised
- hope they have success with the auction.

I googled Tupelo Museum. Very few Fords in his fabulous collection.

Early Fords on display at the Tupelo Automobile Museum include a 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible, 1941 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible and a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon. Plenty of nice Fifties cars. It is a real shame that it is closing.

I have a few videos I took when I was there 6 years ago to help restore the oldest Toyopet Crown 1958 ( Toyota ). I had rebuild the engine and transmission in the car before DR Toyoda showed up for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Corolla plan in Blue Springs. They flew me at the museum to install the engine and transmission back in the car and she allowed me in a room where some other of the rarest car are not on display to the public real treat for me to also having done a video of that section of the museum. I hate to see it closing but they are rare cars in this collection. Here a couple pictures of the car when it was brought to my home in Tempe Arizona for the rebuilding of the engine and trans.
