Default Help identifying gauge connection on a '47

Hi, Can anyone positively identify the two "bridge connections" on the backside of my '47 dash? (see red arrows in photo) What are they for? Seems like a regular connection to the gauge could be made without them, unless they drop voltage or do something similar. Thanks.

That is just how Ford made the power connections to the gauges. You could run two separate power wires or use a wire jumper between the gauges, but why change the way Ford designed it? In this case looks like someone has modified them and they (at least in the photo) appear to be doing nothing! Is this a 6v car? Originally the straps were used to connect power between the gauges (as shown in the attached photo).

I think those are Runtz reducers for running 6V guages on 12V.

That's why I was wondering if it was still 6v or converted to 12v. Think you may be correct Bob.

THANK YOU Bob C and JSeery...!
This pretty much confirms what I suspected, that they are voltage reducers.
Yes, the car was presumably set up for 12 volt but has never really run since the conversion. I didn't want to lead the jury on this, so I left the 12v part out deliberately. I didn't want to start and or run the car and risk screwing up a couple of gauges before finding out what was going on. I don't come to this forum often, but when I do, I'm really impressed with the collective knowledge here.
Thanks again!

Yes... they are voltage reducers.. and Yes you should come to this forum often.. If you browse every thread from the b.b. reboot, (took me about 6 months)... you will glean an immense wealth of knowledge.. So please keep browsing!

Ford did use straight straps of metal to power two gauges from one supply, but as said, that is a voltage reducer, probably the popular Runtz unit.

Mart.
