40 1 ton Express door hinge pins
I am trying to remove the door hinge pins. Got the right tool but they will not budge. My problem is that the truck is already painted, so I cannot apply any heat.
any suggestions will be appreciated. Regards |

Re: 40 1 ton Express door hinge pins
I use a air operated chisel/hammer, ground an end on one of the punches to a little less than the pin dia. protect around the pin on the bottom of the hinge with a piece of rubber, then use a heavy glove to hold the air chisel and direct the end to the bottom of the hinge-start off with about 40 lbs and let it hammer. works like a charm

Re: 40 1 ton Express door hinge pins
Can't offer any first hand advice, but as the door is off, it would make sense to me to have it upside down and support the hinge with something like an axle stand on the floor and whatever you use to strike the pin will be more effective with the load channelled towards the floor.
