Just imagine how much oil the car on the bottom gets dripped on it's hood. The only car safe from that is the one on the top!

The Jewelers' Building, located at 35 East Wacker in Chicago was completed in 1927 and had indoor parking using an elevator to the first 23 floors. Designed for security the parking was only for dealers in the trade, not the general public. You would park your car and walk into your office.

If it was the story in the AACA magazine I remember his first name I think was Barney.Pollard . Also think he had a paving company not a garbage company.

There was another guy outside Chicago that was a scrap or junk man. They sold his stuff off a couple years ago. He had an incredible collection of stuff. The 37 lincoln with twin grills was out of his estate. Its on one of those TV shows about auctions at public storages.

I remember parking "garages" similar but more modern in NYC in the 50's and 60's.

I remember a garage in downtown Chicago in the mid-60's that had an elevator for the car jockeys to ride up to the upper levels. It was a continuously-running vertical conveyor belt with simple hoops to stand on/grab onto. It went up thru holes in the floors that were no more than 3' x 2'. Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen!

A friend took these pics last summer, like the prices?!

I believe you may be referring to Barney Pollard, who was quite a legend at car collecting. I recall reading that a fire burned up one building of brass cars. From what I read he waS quite a cool dude.
