Default wiring making progress one question

I have the Signal Stat 900 installed but I am having a couple of problems.

The indicator light on the Signal Stat do not light up, I think I need a better ground to the steering column to fix this?

When I turn on either the left or right signal the front cowl lights, (standard single filament bulb), work fine but the rear LEDs both right and left blink at the same time whether you are signaling left or right both blink.

My brake lights no longer work, other than that everything works great

I have checked that all wires are connected according to the wiring diagram.

I am sure that both rear lights blink simultaneously because the parking lights run from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side, if I cut that wire I think my blinkers will work but the parking light on the right will not. Maybe I have to go to twin filament bulbs??

S/Stat should be grounded. You need to run individual wires to each light, and because of the led's you may need some type of resistor. 6V or 12V??
Others willl chime in I'm sure. Using the search function at top of page there are many, many posts about signal light installs.

Hi Paul,
I have done a search as I know this has been discussed to death, just could not find anything this specific.

I have run separate wires to each light.

Cooke, no stoplights-----Did you run a wire from the output of the stoplight switch up to the Signal-Stat connections?
Also, put a jumper from signal lever to a ground if indicator then works, strap is NOT grounded well to the painted column. I just loosened my strap & poked a small external star washer under the strap & tightened it. Bill W.

You get all kinds of crazy happenings when tail lights aren't well grounded. Sounds like your cowl lights aren't grounded well either.

Learned this years ago. Car is driving along with the tail lights lit. Driver steps on the brake and only one side lights up bright. The other side goes out! The side that went out when the driver stepped on the brake has no ground. The only reason the tail light was lit was that the tail light filament in the bulb was grounding through the stop lamp filament which then grounded through the stop lamp filament on the other side. When the brake lamps were hit with "hot" voltage, that ground route was lost so the tail light went out. Take the foot off the brake and the tail light goes back on. Make sense??

Did you disconnect the brake light wire from the switch to the brake lights snd connect the wire from the signalstst to the switch? I had the same problem and that's what it was.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I finally got it figured out. I disconnected the connecting wire from the right to left taillights, that obviously stopped the simultaneous blinking. Then the black and grey wire from the S/S goes to the output of the stop light switch not the input as I had it, all works perfect now. Thanks, Martin
