Default 12 volt intermittent duty solenoid with button

I am rewiring my project and want to run a 12 volt intermitent duty solenoind WITH the button on the bottom.
I have used the Cole Hersee 24060 solenoid in the past but want the button for this job.
Does anyone know if they are still available ?
The local NAPA and Auto Zone guys looked at me like I was from Mars when I told them what I needed. (What is the year make model, etc.)
They could not even come up with an Echlin or Standard illustrated parts catalog to look it up.
Damn,I feel old.
I have a whole box full of 6 volts solenoids with the button.
Does anyone know the part number of a 12 volt solenoid that has the button ?
Thank you.

There are many 6 volt solenoids with the button on the bottom being used on 12 volts with success.

Many British cars of the 1930s to 1950s used a 12 volt Lucas solenoid with a push button which was rubber covered on the button. Still available today from suppliers of MG parts in England and USA. Google around to find one. 12 volt systems should use a 12 volt solenoid. Using a 6 volt solenoid on 12 volts will double the solenoid winding current draw. Yes I know some will use a 6 volt solenoid on 12 volts for years but I say do it correctly for best operation. Ive been in auto electrics for 55 years and know what is correct. Regards, Kevin.

If you have gone to 12 volts, originality of the solenoid should not be an issue. I use a remote starter button with leads that clip to the starter button terminal on the solenoid and any handy ground. That way I can crank the engine from any location. Particularly handy when running compression test.

I would also be interested if someone comes up with a part # and source.
I have also used a 6V push button on 12Volts for years, BUT I have had it stick when using the button on the solenoid( not the one on dash). Therefore I don’t use it much!

alan, then let us know your experience with Lucas electrics. I have worked with Lucas electrics for years and know and understand the system. Seems that its some kind of a bad joke that Americans just cant cope with Lucas electrics. As an Australian our auto electrical training took in all types of systems because we had all types of cars , trucks and other makes of equipment over here. Unlike the USA we had a large amount of English cars over here. It would be nice if you could stop bagging Lucas equipment. Regards, Kevin.

try driving down the road in your TR3 at night and the lights go off, then the car quits and you are stranded for the third or fourth time!! then tell me how great the devils own electrical system is!! and yes I will "bagg" them forever

Seems I remember back in the mid 60's that Lucas provided switch covers that better reflected the way some switches performed.

The fondest memory I have of Lucas is the day I got rid of the last Lucas equipped vehicle that I owned.
