Rearview mirrors for 1931 S/W Town Sedan (160B)
Has anyone with a 1931 S/W Town Sedan been able to get rearview mirrors for the sides? Whenever I look them up through the parts dealers, they have hinge mirrors and clip mirrors that all basically say that they will fit any enclosed Model A EXCEPT for the S/W. Why is that? What have you been able to use? I'm going to need to have some.
Thanks, as always, in advance! |

did you try looking for one that fits 32's? I think that would be a better fit if such a thing exists

Re: Rearview mirrors for 1931 S/W Town Sedan (160B)
Couldn't get the peep mirrors on the top door edge of the 160B to angle properly on passenger side. I have period draft side glass with the clip ons , similar to windwings which work.. The 160B hinges have a larger dia. hinge pin but possibly can shim and/or modify the hinge mirrors to fit ?? The V8 mirrors fit a 2 1/4" hinge.

Call Steve at Bert's Model A in Denver, he has a mirror that works, and will sell you the correct hinge pin needed. I found that I use a stick on convex mirror over the added mirror on the passenger side and found the sightline greatly increased for my safety.

Re: Rearview mirrors for 1931 S/W Town Sedan (160B)
I used 2-30/31 pickup hinge mirror brackets on my SWTS. The hinge pin on the SW sedans are larger than the rest of the model A bodies, so you will have to drill the hinge holes in the mirror bracket larger. A longer pin for the door hinge and the mirror bracket are hard to find. I painted my brackets black and the mirror heads are chrome. I like the look and they work well.

Rivco....not familiar with Model A.....are your hinges visible when the door is closed?
If possible list a pic of the door and hinges....I may have a solution |

Also, body very similar to a 32, try some V8 advertisers. FWIW
Paul in CT I had a 32 4dr 52 years ago but can't remember if it had outside mirror(s). |

Am I correct in saying that the top hinge IS NOT visible ? It that's the case my solution won't work on your car

Hi all - sorry for not getting back but I've been ill. Yes, the top hinge is visible and sticks out a little from the car. I'm going to try to upload a pic of it.

I will also call the others as mentioned. I'm glad I posted - I wasn't aware that this body was that similar to the 32s. That's another good idea! Thanks much!

The attached article appeared in the Victoria Bustle. It is how outside mirrors are attached to a Victoria.

Re: Rearview mirrors for 1931 S/W Town Sedan (160B)
Hi Tiger.1000 and Tom - No, I haven't found anything yet and am getting discouraged. The thought of having to drill something on a pristine car does nothing for me (my motto is, if it has to look nice, I don't do it). That said, if I do find something, I'll let you know. But something will have to give. Having one small mirror in the car is very troublesome.
