Default Choke

Been starting up the 31 a few times a week for the last six months. Although it immediately fires up and idles nicely, I have never needed to use the choke. Is that pretty typical in warm weather or is my carb especially rich ? The float level is set at exactly 5/8 inch.

May be normal for the Florida Panhandle.

You could try covering your gas line with clip-on clothes-pins to reduce gas line temperature if you feel compelled to choke. Isn't that what is done to prevent vapor lock?

If you start it up and only let it run for a few minutes before shutting it off, that's a big NO NO.
You should be running it, preferably driving it, for at least 20 or 30 minutes, so that it get's hot enough to get rid of any condensation.
