Default Loose original style point screw

Has anyone besides me had trouble with the original style points screw not tightening up. I bought 4 sets of points some time back from one of the parts catalogs and can't remember which one, but found my points were changing clearness on me while driving. Found that the point block didn't tighten up enough to hold the screw form turning. I tried a couple different blocks from old parts distributors and I found that the new screws were smaller in diameter. I put the point block I was going to use in a vise and sawed threw the slot to make it hold when tightened. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.

if you installed a new set of points more than likely the rubbing block wore down instead of the point screw rotating. New points will close up as much as .010 in the first couple hundred miles until the rubbing block takes a glaze. When installing new points you should check the gap about every hundred miles until they seem to stabilize. At 1,000 oil change interval I usually find my points have closed up a few thou.
