Default More General Info?? Top Radiator Hoses

This is another question I'd like to understand. I already went to the plumbing supply and got me a work-around. Been working on my 8BA, got 2 really ugly radiators out on the back porch. I guess I just thought the upper inlets would be 1 1/4" like my new 8BA hoses. But they both have 1 3/4" inlets. So I'm wondering what's the deal.

I found a couple old posts, but didn't understand well enough. Then I got to thinking, do the older engines have 1 3/4 spouts at the top of the head? Don't have an older head here to look at. Did the newer radiators have 1 1/4" inlets? Thanks!

Radiators upper inlets are 1.8 and the aftermarket head outlets are 1.8 (so are the original head outlets).

The deal is : '32 thru '48 Ford cars (47 trucks) use 1 3/4" upper & lower radiator outlets.
1949 ('48 trucks) thru '53 Fords use 1 1/4" uppers & 1 3/4" lowers.
The earlier radiator can be used with the 8ba if you use a piece of 1 1/4" hose as a spacer on the 8ba head outlets & then use 1 3/4" hoses from the radiator to the engine.
