Draining water from block
Will the engine of a 31 Model A completely drain using the petcock at the front drivers side of the engine?

Re: Draining water from block
Darol, Yes but I add a little antifreeze after block is drained. I believe it is in the owners manual.

Re: Draining water from block
Because the engine sits with the rear slightly lower than the front, there will be a modicum of coolant left in the block after draining via the petcock. Not enough to worry about.

Re: Draining water from block
It seemed it would, but it's better safe than sorry. Thanks for the tips.

Re: Draining water from block
Stick a small nail in drain plug opening after it stops running just to make sure there is no water left. Enjoy.

Re: Draining water from block
If it's freezing you are worried about,it is not a problem. It is a couple of ounces of water at the most.If it freezes it can't do any harm because the ice has room to expand. If it was full of water,it would have nowhere else to go except through the sides. If you just want it bone dry jack the rear of the car up until the engine is level. Then it will all run out the water inlet in the middle.

Re: Draining water from block
Better to keep it full of anti freeze and water-50/50 mix, for so many reasons
