V-8 Fords on Film

Has anyone mentioned "State Fair" ? Many A's But I saw at least one 32. You would have to use freeze frame on some shots.

Yes, I watched State Fair (1945) just the other day on TMC.
Dana Andrews and Dick Haymes.

Good shots of this 1932 Roadster pick up in the opening scenes. Yes, there appeared to be other Fords, but since I was watching in real time and not on tape, I couldn't scan the back ground as good as I usually do. There appeared to be a 1942? Coupe and a 1937 Woody in the back ground on some scenes. Can't be sure because I couldn't stop the show. I'll stick with what I know for sure:

This 1936 Convertible Sedan is from the cult classic Reefer Madness (1936); this movie is also known as Tell Your Children. In the scene where the 1936 convertible sedan strikes the old man, a 1937 Ford open car can be seen in the background. Only the front portion of the car is visible (with top up) so it is impossible to determine whether the car is a Roadster, Cabriolet, Club Cabriolet, Convertible Sedan or Phaeton. The movie must have been made in late 1936 in order that a 1937 Ford is in the picture.

The 1936 Convertible Sedan has some accessories, including fender skirts, spot light and fender mounted turn signals.

It was a while ago, but I remember seeing mickey rooney driving a 32 phaeton and later in the movie him driving off the road and the 32 ends up on its side with the radiator steaming away. can't remember the name of the movie or co stars , might have been the same phaeton that was used in the w.c. feilds movie. Anyone out there recall the name of the one with mickey rooney?

Tony , Bought 89 un-cut episodes of the " rascals " and havn't seen a single V-8 ford Not a lot of cars and the ones that are there appear to be 20's stuff . The bowery boys -east side kids - dead end kids are not looking good so far either . STILL SNOOPIN !!!!!!! . Did you get " O brother where art thou " ? Maybe you already did that one but it has some pretty good looks at a 33 4d that has a 34 hood and grille . Keep up the good work as this is pretty entertaining watching the stuff they could get away with back then . David J

Thanks for the effort. After a couple of months of searching, I found my copy of The Blockheads. The tape snapped. Too bad. The tape was about 25 years old.

I am building up quite a listing of old V-8 Fords on Film. I have pages and pages yet to be posted; I really appreciate any help I get on this little side project of mine. Thanks to all who posted on this thread.

Several days ago I watched a movie called The Crooked Way (1949).
Turned out to be a late forties Ford Fest.

There were a lot of V-8 Fords in this one and I was truly afraid of counting the same cars twice. Lucky for me many of the cars appeared at the same time in the same scene toward the end, assuaging my fear of double or triple counts of individual cars. There could be more Fords in this one than this count.

Caught part of " Topper " 1937 with Cary Grant tonight on TCM and there are a couple real good looks at a 32 roadster . Didn't see all the movie but the roadster makes it well worth watching .

WOW a blast from the past!! There is some else who remembers this film! I watched it as a kid, and I believe they end up putting dynamite or nitro glycerin in a hot rod and driving it into the monster. Wasn't there was another movie about that time called The Tarantula?????

How about the 36 convert in Paper Moon. As I remember it was not just a glimpse but in many scenes running and setting still. A real good movie.

Harold Peary was great as the Great Gildersleeve in the film The Great Gildersleeve (1943). A lot of Fords in the background in this vehicle for the famous radio star.

Not sure if it is the same car in Topper Returns and Topper Takes a Trip. The roadster in the original Topper appears to be a Model B because of the lack of a V-8 badge on the headlight bar.

In 1985 a movie called "Mischief" was filmed in the Nelsonville, Ohio, area. Fords were parked on the street and a 55 or 56 was in one of the near crash scenes with the star's old Studebaker. The 50's era movie included Kelly Preston (now Mrs. John Travolta). She spices up the movie with a sex scene that was as hot as the great cars in the flick.
