Default I think I screwed up

The water pump was leaking and it had a four blade fan on. So I bought a new packing nut and front bearing. I was sold the new style needle bearing, well I got it all back together and now I read in a catalog (another) I was supposed to use locktight on the new bearing inner sleeve I guess maybe so it won't spin on the shaft??? The other thing was the in and out play in the head was over a 1/4 inch, I ended up drilling the center of the original shaft and turning a plug with a shaft diameter and a smaller one to fit into the original shaft and brazing them together, I set it after checking several times to about .005 clearance with no bind. Should I take the pump off for the locktight and where does it go. Should have just used the original bearing I guess. O I put an Aluminum two blade fan on.

Was the bearing a press fit? If pressed on I personally would not worry about it.

No the inner sleeve slips on, the bearing was a tight fit in the waterpump bore. I guess I answered my own question.

The one I got from Brattons had a whole page of fairly detailed instruction
on how to determine the correct location to install the sleeve and what
order to install the parts. It required fitting the shaft and setting the end play
marking the shaft then disassembly then installing the sleeve. Maybe
Brattons can email you the instruction sheet.

Thanks Bob but I am going to disassemble the waterpump again and use the original style bearing, my shaft is slightly undersized so that is the best solution. The supplier I bought the parts from never mentioned about a press fit of the inner race. As a newbie to model A's I guess I never asked. I don't want to rely on a glue to prevent issues even lock tight has it's limits, well live and learn, by the time I am done with this waterpump I will be an expert, until next time of course.
