Now I want to save the tires and the wheels.
I use a couple tire spoons and have no problem with removal. Slit a 2" long piece of fuel hose to protect the paint as the tire spoon presses against it.

Lots of good info in this thread. I need to change two of my tires soon but I never attempted on a Model A. Doesn't look too difficult.

Just curious. Has anyone tried a Harbor Freight Tire Changer? http://www.harborfreight.com/portabl...ger-69686.html

I have one and have changed both car and M/C tires with it. It works just like the one I used working in a Gas Station ~ 45 year ago...

Forgot to ask... What are your opiniuns of Lucas Tires? http://www.lucasclassictires.com/19-...ad-BW-295p.htm They are located ~ 15 miles from me so I can go pick them up. Maybe they install, I'll have to check.

Big O did mine without a scratch. I suspect other tire stores could do the same. Shop around and don't mention the phrase show car.

I never have a problem installing my own . I use GoJo hand cleaner as a lubricant and they slip on easily, especially the 21 inchers. The rounded rim beads on 21 inch rims make the process easier. Ninteen inch rims are a bit harder.

I mounted tires on my E-28 rims this afternoon, at least four of them. I will need to replace one of the inner tubes. I used dish soap and water and my own elbow grease! No tire irons needed. I put the tires in the sun to soften them up. It is really very easy.

I have had my Model A for a little over a year now and just changed my tires. I changed them without removing the wheels from the car. I used a garbage bag and vegetable soap on the tire beads to install the new tires. It wasn't too difficult.

21 inch rims are drop center, piece of cake,a garage mech. will probably scratch the hell out of your paint and won't care.

Does it later make your tire slip on the wheel?

Never slipped on mine. I also have WD-40 in a $1 plastic spray bottle that I use to mount the tires.
