Has any one heard of or seen a hood ornament on a 49 F1 pick up. My hood has holes for one but not sure if it was a lost add on or original ? Thanks for any input ........ Bob

No such animal. Most people took the ornament from a 49-51 Ford car because the curvature is identical to the truck. It's a perfect match.

It may also have been a JCWhitney "jester" ornament...

Here's a picture of the 1948 Ford passenger car hood ornament that a previous owner attached to the hood on my '50 F1. The ornament follows the curve of the hood perfectly.

These 1947 and 1948 Ford hood ornaments are available from many early ford parts suppliers. Here's a closeup. Of course, it works best if your truck is blue!

It is a toss up between the 47/48 ornament and the pig. Mac truck bull dog is nice.

By the way, my truck runs about 15 MPH faster with the flying PIG out in the lead!...slim
