Question Speedometer clicking

The speedometer on my Canadian 29 Tudor is clicking. The speed indicator still works, but it jumps around in sync with the clicking. The odometer still works. I saw Jack B.'s video on YouTube about replacing a stuck shaft, but that's not my problem. We went on a 100 mi. trip yesterday and by the time we got back, the clicking was noticeably louder. Above 45 MPH it isn't as loud, but I think that is because it's spinning faster and harder to hear. It amazes me that something didn't let loose, but it still works.
Before I tear into this I thought I would ask the experts for a little guidance. Thanks, Smitty

Lube the cable and make sure it has no kinks.

Nothing wrong with your speedometer. Lube or replace the cable and your problem is fixed.

If the cable turns out to be ok, then your main bearing in the speedo has high friction, as many do. The cable has to wind up before it has enough torque to turn the shaft. Try to turn it with your fingers to confirm the binding.

Hay if you don't get it working right after lubing the cable. Let me know it sounds like the speedometer needs to be total serviced. papanick. [email protected]
