Just acquired a 41 that will need a total resto. Your thread will definitely be a useful guide.

On post #85 you have a picture of the cab side of the firewall with a formed-to-fit sound or thermal barrier. What is it and if not original, what was original?

It is a repro firewall cover. It sucks, doesn't fit right and hard to work with. Its fibreglass, the original was a heavy pressed paper that allowed some 'give' to where it needs to. |

Thanks, but I want out. I'm not happy with it, its taking too long, I hate dealing with inferior products. |

You can put it in my garage. Hang in there, take a break and then go back to it. You will be glad that you did.

Re: My 1941 Ford 1/2 ton pickup restoration
Nice day to pull it out of the garage....
Tins hung and lined up for the last time! I am painting it assembled, the front half then the rear half. I know there is a ton more masking to do but I'd just rather do it that way. New box subfame is just sitting on, I have new bed front and gate also but will be repairing the box sides. Don't mind the radials, they are temporary till I repaint my wheels. Re: My 1941 Ford 1/2 ton pickup restoration
I've said it before, you are inspiring me. Got another question though. The pickup bed frame looks like it is separate from the bed body, is that the case? I've posted on this forum and shown where my bed has been heavily modified with a steel plate on the bottom of the bed. Did you restore your existing bed or have to get a reproduction?
Another question. Post #85 in pictures 5 and 6 there is a post just to the right of your accelerator pedal, mounted to the floor. What is that? |
