Any info on Lion Auto Parts, Chicago, IL NOS starter switch?
I'm a T guy, so am lost. Found NOS in box Ford Model A starter switch from the Lion Auto Parts Co., Chicago, IL Presume aftermarket, but certainly looks pre WWII. Can't find anything on Lion.
I can post a photo of the box or the switch if that helps. Any thoughts? |

Which switch? There are two, Do you mean the switch that has 4 screws on the top of starter? Or do you mean the pop out, key switch on the dash?

Starter switch is located on the starting motor and the ignition switch at the dash. I think he meant on the starter.

I have a few of these, new in the box, from what could be the 1950's or prior. Don't know if they are junk, scrap or the Holy Grail or somewehre in between. Thanks. |

Re: Any info on Lion Auto Parts, Chicago, IL NOS starter switch?
NOS is "new old stock" and is a reference to original equipment parts, in other words genuine Ford parts for Model A's.
NORS is "new old replacement stock" a term in general use to describe new parts made many years ago, but not by the original supplier to the cars manufacture. This term separates them from aftermarket parts made today. Terminology may differ in your part of the country. |

They are certainly worth as much as what you find in the parts catalogs.

NORS parts can be good or worst than today's repro parts. |

I guess the best way to tell the quality would be to do a thorough examination. Ie weak spring, skimpy insulation, tinny construction and so on.

Thanks to all. They are on eBay for less than reop part from large vendor. We'll see what the marketplace says.
Don't know what to compare them to as I don't own a restored A, but the part does appear to be pretty "industrial". I've dealt with terrible Chinese foot starter switches for my 42 GPW and this part feels pretty substaintial in comparrision. Again, thanks for the info. |
