Is there babbit in a Model T other than the main bearings?

Yes, ther rear transmission bearing has babbit. There is a needle bearing upgrade made today that some owners use. The camshaft bearings are also babbit. Bob

Yes. The connecting rods are babbited and if you have an early T there are babbit thrust washers in the rear axle.

John, my 26/27 Rear End had babbitted thrust washers in it also. What gives with that??

John's got it backwards. The early T's had bronze thrust washers and beginning sometime with the '14 models - I believe - the factory changed to the babbit ones.

This is all assuming that the rear end(s) in question has the original from the factory thrust washers.

Well who knows? All I know is that we had a car full of people years ago headed down the steepest hill in town when one of the babbit thrust washers in the rear end fell to pieces and the pinion and the ring gear were then like distant neighbors which equals no brakes at all and a bunch of noise to boot.

Is there upgraded inserts for the babbit other than the rods and mains?

No insert bearings for a T. The iron mains and steel rods are tinned, then babbitt poured with fixtures to resurface the bearings.

The T only has 1.248" journals The babbitt lining would be too thin if inserts were used.

Driveshaft upper end by U-joint and starter bendix bushing too.

You have to use the babbitt for the rods and mains, no inserts will work. The cam bearing same thing. As for the rear end you have to take the babbitt out or risk having happen what is mentioned above. The (fouth main) or the ball cap bearing at the tail of the transmission can either have a new style or you cna use the babbitt. They make a bronze bussing for the starter which is much better then the babbitt.
