Default Strictly Competition Corner

Anybody recognize this fuel injection system from '59?

Recognize the fuel injection parts between the log manifolds?

We decided on a front suspension for the tube frame.

It's factory suspension with enough of the frame to keep geometry.

It simplifies the job.

Going to get one, clean it up and figure how to attach it to tube frame.

So things will move along now.

Have made the decision to quit fooling around.

Getting a big supercharger.

Will listen to anybody's experiences with these.

Neighbor has one on a bucket T on a 350 Chevy.

Think it is medium size one though.6-71

We are getting a big one. 8-71

For the Lincoln 430.

Will post pic's of it.

Look at what they did to those 6's in 1960!

The 6 is inherently balanced so you're off to a good start.

They even ran straight 6's in dragsters in the '50's and early 60's.

See more GM ones than Ford ones though.

Believe the Ford had the intake built into the head which is not a wanted feature.

Did not stop these guys though!

Strategy as of now.

Will have engine reworking info IN HAND when we disassemble an engine.

Then DECIDE if any parts will get reworked.

Example:Turning valves down in a lathe to lighten them.Lighter valves mean

engine will have quicker throttle response and rev up higher.

Downside is they are more likely to break off and destroy a good part of the

engine.

Right now the plan is to 'carefully tune to get the most power from a stock

engine'.

If any reworking really looks like it is worthwhile THEN we'll do it.

NOTE:Boring and stroking is a very safe reworking. There is virtually no

downside. It is just expensive. For these old engines stroker kit is as

expensive as going and getting a later bigger engine.

But it is a good reworking aside from expense.
