I guess its time ???
2/16/2020 BUBBAS ???
Well I guess the time has come !! After almost 50 years of ignition service in one way or the other and 32 plus years servicing Bubbas Garage in the Alley at the Newport Hill Climb. I am retiring from the ignition business . I retired from the Fuel Injection and diagnostic business a few years ago and moved the Ignition part back to my house at 5237 Ford Street. My part time guy Terry has been with me 20 plus years . Over the years we have shipped thousands of rebuilt Ford V8 ignitions to customers all over the world. The last year has been rough on me as I do Dialysis three days a week . Also I am having a heart procedure in the next couple weeks to remove a 90% blockage . With both of these issues I cant get to the shop other than a few hours per week , and its time to really work on my health . I have a plan and will work the plan. Orders that are in the shop will get done ( most are apart and clean thanks to Terry !) but we will no longer take additional orders. We ( Terry and I) will do some inventory ( I have tons ) over time and offer it for sale, however thats a project down the road... I would refer Mike at 3rd Generation , Charlie NY (ford barn ) and Skip Haney for distributor work to be done..They all do great work!! I do plan on monitoring all emails and my web site will still be a informational site for the Early V8 Flathead stuff. I will do my best to answer all questions and enjoy doing that as usual. I also plan on writing some advanced trouble shooting test procedures as time allows.... Jim Linder Bubbasignition.com [email protected] |

Prioritizing one's time is most important and I am glad you have given the old Ford community the time you did. Thanks for that and take care.

Re: I guess its time ???
Sorry to hear but you have to take care of yourself first and always. The Chevy distributor conversion you did for me several years ago is still going strong. Thanks for all you have done for the hobby.

Jim, Sorry to see you go but, that is the cost of getting old. I have had many jobs in my time but I finally found something I am really good at......being retired and doing nothing.
May God bless and keep you. And thanks for all of your outstanding years at repairing our old Fords!! |

God bless Jim. It's a shame someone can't continue the business but hopefully the people mentioned can take their share of the load. You need to only have one job and that job is to look after your own health.

Re: I guess its time ???
A sad time for us Jim. Most of us old flathead guys are getting used to living with increasing limitations, as our bodies begin to let us down. Nothing is forever, but you enter this stage of life with thousands of people who are grateful for you and Terry taking good care of us with dignity and respect. Hope to see continuing posts from you. God bless you, Russ/40.
PS. I want an XL t-shirt also. Pleeze! |

Bubba. I've never met you but have enjoyed your posts and a couple of phone conversations over the years. Apatchy has enjoyed all of the extra sparks your distributor work has given him. Enjoy your retirement and be CERTAIN to follow your doctor's orders. I lost a friend who didn't.
Prayers. Lawson Cox

Jim,
You've been a great friend and a great customer. I wish you the best and hope we can still have our frequent talks when I get all wound up (you know what I mean!). You've been a true asset to the hobby and as Charlie has said it will be a void that cannot be filled. Step back and admire the impact you have had in this hobby, huge.. |

Jim
As many have already said, your health is all that’s really matters. Having 85% blockage and two stents installed in one artery, i know you’ll be fine. If you need someone to talk to about the procedure please feel free to send me a PM. You’ll be missed and in my prayers!

Re: I guess its time ???
Jim, I know where you're coming from, although I don't have the health problems you have, at 87, I don't plan very far ahead. My helper Rob is building his first flathead at home with my help, but he;s doing all the work. So maybe there will be someone around to rebuild soome more flatheads. I'm putting my roadster in tempoary storage, and working on the 47 International I'be had for the past 35 years. This will be put up for sale in the near future. It doesn't get run very nuch and the family doesn't really want it.
It need some BS work I have a new instrument cluster for iy, installed a vintage air heater defroster. but hadn't hooked it up. Last year I installed new shocks in the front suspension, so it rides prety good. Other than that all it needs is a coat of painr, and I don't spend any money on aesthetics. Eye sight and bad hip& back prevent me from working more than a few hours a day, so my playtime is limited. I wish you well Jim take care. Ol' Ron (Gramps) |

Thank you Bubba for all you have given to the hobby.
Will be keeping you and your family in our prayers. No doubt you have given many of us a great product, but i must say you should be most proud of your personal effort to teach all of us. The knowledge you have and will share will outlive your distributors. .

Re: I guess its time ???
sorry to see you have to make this decision. Too bad you could not have mentored someone to take over. If I were closer I'd probably be hanging out at your shop enough to do it. We were lucky Bill took over the shock business and then found someone to take it from him. Louie Trinque passed on a lot of knowledge to Bill but I'm sure he took some with him. Good luck with everything ahead of you.

Re: I guess its time ???
THANKS for all your knowledge and expertise. You have a great educator as well and will be missed!!! We all hope that you will continue to "advise/mentor all us "Flathead" people. Good luck with up coming health challenges and we pray you will be "helping" us for years to come!

Re: I guess its time ???
Jim,
Thank you for your dedication and faithful service to us all. I totally understand that there comes a time that we sometimes have to step away from something we love and focus on the other priorities in life. Remember that you are loved and appreciated and being prayed for. If you can stop by the forum to share some of your wisdom once in awhile it will always be appreciated. May the Good Lord BLESS you and strengthen you and keep" your ignition" in top notch shape. Thanks Again, Chap |

Re: I guess its time ???
Jim, I have one of your Mallory flathead specials and am proud to say it came from you. You were always available and prompt with any questions I had, and did excellent work at a very fair price. Take care of yourself and enjoy retirement. We’ll miss you.
