Default Recommended torque for water pump bolts

Anyone recommend a torque for 41 water pump bolts?

3/8 bolts on a water pump do not need a torque chart. Just common sense mechanic tightening.

But if you're a nitpicker, precisely 25.500000 ft-lbs. I'd be more interested in what kind of bolt you're gonna use inside the water jacket. 8^) Jack E/NJ

Manuals for 49-53 Ford and Merc water pump bolts are 23-28 foot pounds so I would think that would be ok for your application. Bolt size is 3/8-16x 1 1/16 and 3/8-16 x 1 7/8. So, Jack's exact measurement is fine. I tighten them until they are very snug. Don't know how many ft.lbs. "snug" is.[/B]

Ford mechanics didn't use torque wrenches.
