Default Model A folk can certainly be nice

As I stated in my original thread, I had a really tough time in deciding about purchasing a coupe or the pickup I finally went with. I decided to let the coupe owner know my reasons to not purchase it and to be square with him about having been serious in considering the coupe to begin with. I got a very nice return letter and I appreciated the owner doing that.

There were several factors which led to my decision and believe me, the coupe I was considering is every bit as nice as the pickup I finally chose to go with. It was a very gut-wrenching process, but several personal factors were involved before all was said and done. The deal on the pickup should be finalized later today if all goes well, but I really did appreciate the coupe owner's letter and comments made to me when I informed him I'd have to pass on his car this time. That was very nice and I have found that sort of thing to be more the norm than one would believe.

I certainly hope he sells his coupe soon and gets everything he wanted in providing it a nice new home from some potential buyer. I won't mention any names, as he may not wish that to be done, but he said the purchase of any vintage auto is an investment and requires a lot of thought. He is sure right about that, as I'll always wonder if I made the best choice or not, but at least I'll know either choice would have been a good one. Thanks to that seller for understanding and the encouragement and well wishes provided.

I also find that I get along best with the type of person that owns/drives/likes Model A's.
They are kind of a crazy lot, outspoken and honest.
"Old World" you may call them...but then again...that's me.

Coupes are neat for sure, but the trend anymore seems to be getting real strong for pre-War pickups of any make.

For example, 1940-'41 Ford pickups in #1 condition are valued at $40,000 according to the OCW value book. 1930's Chevy-Ford-Dodge pickups in GOOD condition, stock not rodded, are preemo bucks today. People really like old trucks anymore. '35-'36 Ford pickups in #1 condition are selling in the upper 20's low 30's .

Your choice of the '30 Pickup, especially one as nice as you showed in your photos, was a wise choice as far as I'm concerned

Just be as straight as you can. Most will appreciate it, some will not. At least you will have done the right thing.

When I was getting back into the Model A market after a 50 year absence, I had narrowed my search down to a coupe or a pickup. It was even narrower than that, it had to be a '31. The pickup surfaced first and was priced right, so that's what I went with. I, too, have wondered about the seat that came with it. I think it sits too high, and may eventually do something about that. But for now, it's OK.

After having my pickup for 6 years now, If, and that's a big IF, I ever take the plunge for a second Model A, It will most likely have to be a '31 SW Fordor Sedan.

One Opinion On Model A Folks:

Like similar hobbies, Model A's are a bit of work to maintain.

Model A's are usually owned by working people; or, retired working people.

Workers or past workers usually appreciate others learning how to work.

Workers or past workers usually help to share working experiences.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then in this country, we have non-workers who never worked and hate work.

Ever notice people who never worked and hate work do not own 80 year old hobby vehicles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Forum appears to have a working spirit composed of Model A guys who go out of their way to help others.

I doubt if we have any non-workers on this Forum who never worked.

Something like that ...... just wonderful working people who always appreciated working for a living.

I have noticed how those "non-workers who never worked and hate work" are driving brand new cars on their way to get their free food with their WIC cards, and calling their friends on their free phones to meet up and watch the ball game on their big screen TV in the house or apartment that you/I/we pay for.
I don't like how they are "entitled" to my labor (through taxation) to support their poor life choices.

A friend sold a collectible car to Colorado, later he got a letter from THE CAR, describing its' ADVENTURE.
The CAR told about it's new owners/weather/care it's receiving/how he's adjusting to the HIGH altitude & even what brand of ANTIFREEZE they gave him!
