Default Honing wheel & Master Cylinder

Rumble Seat, (bless his soul), recommended using cutting oil to hone with so you get a better finish. This may have been written before water based cutting fluids started to supplant oil/sulphur cutting fluids. The water base might be a lot easier to clean out after honing, but would it give the same finish as the old stuff ? Any experiences to share ? Thank you Fordbarners.
