Default continuation of Betsy's thread-stuck engine

didn't want to hijack Betsy's thread....

pulled the head on my engine and 3rd cylinder will not let atf through, so tapping it with a 2x4 every other day

my question is-pulled the valve cover off and water rolled out-6 of the 8 valves are stuck down in the block-what methods do you folks use to get them up and moving? a friend suggested PB Blaster on top and underneath, but am thinking someone here has an ingenious method or 2 for freeing them....

thx ahead of time.

Remove the manifolds & spray Liquid Wrench on upper & lower ends of valve stems.Don't use WD 40 as it doesn't work very well. You may have to respray it a few times over the next few days.Take an old screwdriver & grind it down thinner on the end & try lightly tapping it between the lifter & valve. If a valve moves slightly, then tap it back down with an angled rod thru the plug hole.If to tight, you may have to pull the head to get a straight hit on the valve.

the best penetrating oil you can use is one you make your self, a 50-50 mix of auto trans oil and acetone, works where others fail, spray on valve stems and lifters and let set for a day

Claude heated the valve stems through the ports & cooled them with WD-40, several times to help free them up. Bill W.

Auburn in this case refures to a city, not an automobile.

Thanks Glenn, was out there playing today- the patience part is tough

was able to get 4 of the 8 lifters turning, by putting a very small pair of vice grips on them and swiveling them back and forth with PB Blaster
was going to buy the acetone, but almost 20. bucks a gallon, thought I'ld start with the PB
the valves are still pretty locked up and this could take awhile-cylinder #3 is still not running clear of the atf and gas I mixed 50/50
hoping when that cylinder clears, may get a little movement from the crank....

7 valves are up-thx to the ground down screw driver and KB
1 to go and 2 lifters still frozen along with cylinder #3
going to set a floor jack under the crank handle with a little pressure overnight....

thx for all of the advise-much appreciated.
