Default Mart's Crusty Flatty Teardown Pt5. Cam and lifter removal.

Having successfully got the valves, crank and pistons out, in this episode I turn my attention to the cam and lifters. They are the next lucky recipients of a bit of Mart lovin', with a brass drift and a big hammer. A tyre lever also sees some action.

Apologies up front for sub optimal camera angles. I did splice in some still shots to sort of give you an idea of what I was doing.

See how it went:

That was good Mart! No broken parts and didn’t hurt the block. I would have lost patience and broken out the fire wrench a long time ago!

Mart - It helped you that the cam gear is metal and not fiber....

Pete: I think you're right. I thought the same thing watching the playback during editing.

I watched it on my phone while my wife was in the grocery store. I'll have to buy a big brass drift to mimic what you did.

What are your plans for that engine?

Thanks for the replies, fellas.
Plans not firmed up yet, but might involve trying my vintage boring machine. I can't afford to throw a lot of money into it. I will do my best to get it running retaining as much of the original motor as possible, and whatever used parts I have on hand.
since retiring I no longer travel to the USA so getting hold of parts has become more difficult/expensive.

Mart.

Great to watch Mart, If you find any cracks in the block, what method will you use to fix them?

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, Frank. Fingers crossed it's looking good so far.
