24 T runs again after 40years
Been lurking here and the MTFCA for a while and got the T bug. I've been a member over on the HAMB Jalopy Journal for years. I bought this car about 7 years ago, and untill recently it's been siting in my barn waiting for the day I could start working on it. It came with a 1969 title, and I don't think it has ran much if any since then. I went through the carb, and had to retime the cam. I cleaned and set the contacts on the coils and they all started working, so I tried starting the old girl and damned if it didn't cough and bark and sputter to life! I tried moving it the other day and my son made this video. It' been quite a learning experience but I'm exited. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6ud...ature=youtu.be

It's nice when that happens, isn't it? Now you can put on the radiator and go for a drive. You could even make a video of going for a drive.

Congratulations on getting your Coupe running. I'm restoring a '24 Coupe as well. Do you have doors? If so, are they wood framed or all metal?

Re: 24 T runs again after 40years
My coupe body was missing the wood framed doors. The previous owner was going to fit metal doors. I was fortunate to find a nice pair of wood frame doors at Hershey last year, one of which had the hard to find Type C "escalator" regulator. Great project you have and if I can help let me know.

Re: 24 T runs again after 40years
Thanks for the offer Stinch. I'm not familiar with the regulator type that you mentioned, but my doors have a rollup regulator on one door and a pull strap on the other door. I intend to put a regulator in the door with the strap. My old regulator handle is stripped out on the other door, so I'll be looking for 2 of those. This won't be a show piece so I'm not that concerned with the condition, as long as they aren't stripped out. They are not repopped so it might be hard to find some. Thanks -Mike

Re: 24 T runs again after 40years
The 26/27 regulators can be adapted to work in your doors. My car came with straps also. You need the regulators, the lower channel, and the handles. The bracket is 1/8" aluminum. I made new boards because I didn't want to cut up the originals. I don't know how the regulator lines up in the door in comparison to the original, so if your car is upholstered it may be a bigger challenge.

New radiator and top wood/vinyl. The doors actually shut now. Runs down the road pretty good. The seat frames are being upholstered now.

Re: 24 T runs again after 40years
Thanks Steve. I'll have to look you up some time. I plan on retiring soon and moving back to the family farm in Lawrence. It looks like about 3 hrs north of you. This was intended to be the only T in my collection, but it looks like I'm picking up a '25 touring tommorrow. That's how it start's right?...
