Default Three bolt Distributor question

I have recently aquired a '35 21 stud motor. I have a box full of ignition parts for it. I have several distributor housings and coils, points, and rotors and caps. Then I have the one off the motor. The place where the coil goes is bigger and has three hole instead of two like the others. Also the rotor has longer contact areas on it. My question is how many years interchange? Is it a 32-34 and then '35-36 or the like? Also what is the optimum point setting for them. I have run these before but the engines came with the dizzy parts all together so I never changed anything. Seemed to work just as well as the crab style?

34 to early 36 use the 3 screw down coil.Late 36 uses a flat top coil with 2 stagared screws not straight across. 37 to 41 use a taller coil w 2 straight across screws.Hope this helps.34 to early 36 use .014 point setting./ late 36 uses .016 setting. hope this is clear as mud. lol ken ct.

According to info in Mac's cat... 32-E36 uses a distr housing with 3-screw coil mount. 'Reg' 36 stands alone, oddball 'diagonal' coil mount. 37-41 uses 2-screw coil mount. Pictures are in Mac's cat.
Points for 32-E36 are the 'one-long-arm-and-2-screw-type. Points for 36-48 are all the same, and look more like 'conventional' points.
Rotors... 32-36 uses one type ('wide' contact area), and 36-41 uses another type ('skinny' contact area). Pict in Mac's cat. (Can you imagine... rotors are about 45 smackaroos)
Point settings (and many other adjustments & specs) are in Mac's cat (front). The experts that post here will likely offer advice based on their extensive experience.

So it looks like I have a 37-41 on the car, and a box full of '34-36 style. Thank you Ken and Bob. Should be off and running shortly.
