Question ?
What is the oil pressure gauge supposed to be for a 1946 pickup, 50 or 80 LB ?

Re: Question ?
The sender should be the 80 lb. the gauge also should have the 0-30-80 on the face.

Re: Question ?
That's what I thought. I just bought one that is supposed to be 80 LB and I am only seeing a KS stamp with a 5 under it which makes me think it may be 50 LB ?

Re: Question ?
If you bought it from a dealer, no way would it be an original 50#. It might be an offshore repop. From a swap meet, you may have gotten lucky and found gold.

I'd say there is a pretty good chance that the one in question is a 50 psi unit. All the 80 psi units were marked as such. |

Kube or anyone else, If I take a picture of this sender and its markings and send it to you, can you ID it positively for me ?

Re: Question ?
Your 1946 truck should be a 59A engine and as such, should have a 50# oil pump in it. The 8BA engine that came out for the 1948 F1 and the later passenger car had an 80 # oil pump and thus needed the 80# sending unit. As stated above, the 50 # units were not marked until the 80# units came out because the only unit available was a 50# unit.
