Otwell Health Heater Door
I have obtained an Otwell #14 heater for my 29 Tudor, but the donor car did not have the Otwell door. Instead, there was just a rectangular hole in the floor.
My previous posting on this disappeared as I was getting ready to answer Joe's reply (a forward of Tom's suggestion, I believe). I looked at the space between the heater and the cowl, and there's not much room to fabricate a duct down to the floor area. The required right angle would significantly impede the straight through airflow & the throttle cross-shaft is right in the way. I see three options. First, I could shape a piece of 1" thick hardwood to fit the odd corner, so that there would be a flat surface parallel to the cowl to mount an aftermarket heater door on. Painted black, it might not look "too" bad. Second, I could fire up the welder and fab something close to the original Otwell part. Or third, I could get real lucky & find an original part. This would be the authentic way to go, but I'm thinking chances are slim of finding one. Any thoughts? Thanks BrianM Gwinn, MI |

If you go through the floorboards, you won't have to cut the firewall. I think that there are reproductions of the heater door, out there. MIKE |
