the 19" goodyears did not use to fit in spare tire well. that may have changed, but if planning to use a fender well for spare i would check

The Goodyears fit in the sidemount well, you just have to deflate them to 20 pounds pressure.

Are you sure you aren't confusing them with Lucas supplied Firestone? They have traditionally been problematic being oversize.

In past years there were two versions of 19' Goodyear tires. One version was made in Canada and the other in Brazil. The Brazilian version looked very much like originals but both fit in fender wells fine. I believe both disappeared in the 1980's.

About 1996 John Kelsey of Kelsey Tire released new USA made Goodyears which are what we still have today. They are by far the most accurate reproduction Model A 19" tire ever offered. They are very accurately sized.

In my car shown below they fit very nicely in the fender well. In fact there is a vertical adjustment on the spare wheel mounting plate and mine is positioned well below center of that adjustment meaning the spare could be raised quite a bit if it were needed. If anyone has a problem fitting one of these tires in a fender well the problem certainly is not due to the tire.

Just put these on my 1930 Model A pickup. It's a daily driver and I love them so far!! I purchased 5 tires, tubes and rim strips. Great price and great tires! Universal was great to deal with. Here's a link to the tires:
