Default 40 Pickup Fuel tank removal ?

I unfortunately think I already know the answer, but is there anyway to get the fuel tank out of a 40 pickup without removing the stock bed ?

save time, bloody fingers, agravation and take the bed off, just six bolts and some wires, need four good friends to help or a lift of some sort

Both, think alan was just pointing out that in the overall scheme of things taking the bed off might be easier. But skidmarks stated you can take it out the bottom if you do not want to remove the bed.

To take it out of the bottom, remove the filler tube and hose and all bolts holding tank to the chassis. Lift the driver's side end of the tank as far as possible and pushed as far as possible to toward the driver's side. The passenger side end of the tank should just clear the chassis to drop down and come out. Same procedure as for a car as stated above.
It does work. I was surprised that it worked the first time, too, but it will.
Good luck and be patient and make sure to get as much gas out first.
Oh yeah, and leave your cigar on the bench!

It's every bit as miserable going back in from the bottom as well.
