1941 Trunk Lock Issues
I’m trying to put an original trunk lock together in my 1941 Ford. Here’s the issue Im having. Using an NOS lock cylinder I can only remove the key with the trunk handle unlocked. When the handle is locked the key cannot be removed from the cylinder.
1. Do I have the wrong lock cylinder? 2. Is there another part that I’m missing inside the handle that will make it work properly? I did bring the lock to a local locksmith and he was not able to offer any solutions. Here are some pictures that might help to understand my issue. The key can be removed when the cylinder is in the unlocked position. (The pin at the end of the cylinder is in the up position) The key cannot be removed in the locked position. (The pin at the end of the cylinder is in the down position). I made the square bolt with the notch in it for inside the trunk handle. Is there some other part that I’m missing to make this work properly? I’d appreciate any help to resolve my issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: 1941 Trunk Lock Issues
The lock cylinders from 1941 through early '47 were designed to only release the key in the "locked" position. A modified cylinder was introduced in '47 that allowed the removal in either the "locked" or "unlocked" position. I may have a limited number of the "later" versions in stock.
