Default 57 drive shaft

I am installing a 57 pass. car drive shaft so my T85 will not require a shortened shaft. 1955 Crown Vic.. When I got shaft, all u joints were out. I got new u joints but this is a tapered shaft and I need to know which end goes to transmission. Don't want to install transmission yoke on wrong end.
Figure that if KULTULZ hasn't violated the terms of his work release yet he would know. All help appreciated.

That should be cruel and unusual punishment. If you need a character reference, just let me know. Mine won't be worth a lot but it will be free. Thanks for the picture, now I can put the yoke on the correct end.

Yes, '57/58 tapered driveshafts should have the smaller end down closer to the rear end.
BTW, that tapered driveshaft was one of Fords famous safety innovations back then. The theory was that if you got into a head-on collision, the drive-shaft would crumple at the tapered down point rather than popping up thru the floor of the car and injuring passengers. Same year they began using the backward opening hood of full-sized cars, another safety feature gone bad. In 1960, they reverted back to the hood opening at front. But T-Birds kept their backward opening hood.

Correction, should have said that in 1960 the full-sized cars reverted back to front opening hood, while T-Birds kept their backward opening hood thru at least '59. Not sure about '60 and later Birds.
