Default Carb ID & Help

If you saw my first post this weekend, I just picked up my first 30, (Happy Fathers Day To Me) I knew it was going to need some attention and the first issue is a carb leak. Not scared of rebuilding it as I have done other from boats to motorcycles etc... I do need help in identifying mine to make sure I get the correct kit, also any helpful hints from people with experience would be appreciated. It appears that the worst leak is at the choke rod connection.

Thanks in Advance

That is a tillotson x which is a replacement for the factory zenith. They were used a lot in the war trimes into the 50's. Probably some in the 30's as well. Some like them so don't, it is a matter of opinion. Jack

All the suppliers sell gaskets and other parts for them:

Being made out of Pot Metal they have a tendency to warp the top half along the seam where it meets the bottom half. Also they warp at the top mounting flange. That is usually caused by over tightening the bolts. When in good condition they work OK. Some folks have success with Zenith carburetors and some don't. As Jack says, a matter of opinion.
