Default 1929 Model A coupe top

Not familiar with a '28-9 coupe. Does the top on a '29 coupe separate from the lower rear quarter panel section or is it a one piece as the '30-1 coupe? Thanks, Joe.

Joe,

There were four types of "coupes" for 28-29...Standard Coupe, Special Coupe, Business Coupe and Sport Coupe...for which type of "coupe" are you reffering to?

I don't know what this body is. It has a flange around from door to door. I've seen pictures of the Business and Sport coupe and I think these had a canvas top. I'm probably referring to the Standard and Special coupe with the metal top. What I'm asking, is whether this metal top is removable leaving that flange where it would have bolted on.

Joetx.. If you use the "search" tab at the heading on the forum page, type the body style you want to look at (eg. Special, Sport, etc.) and tons of information will be available to shift through. I think you're asking the question about the "belt-rail" section, and how the top is formed to the body panels. My avatar shows a '29 Special Coupe.. kb

I have searched and I'm not finding the info I need. Thanks. My question is whether the top separates from the quarter panels or is it one piece. I know that in the '30-1 it does not separate and is a one piece. Reason I ask, is because I was told that the picture above is of a coupe and needed the top put back on? I didn't know the '29 standard coupe separated here and I still don't know....

Yes, the upper quarters and lower quarters as well as the center panel all unbolt on the 1928-1929 coupes. On 1930-31 coupe, only the cente panel unbolt- the quarters are each all one piece

In addition to the nuts and bolts between the upper and lower quarters, you will also find some spot welds.
