Default Help..Drivers Door Latch 30 ccpu

I bought a new door latch from Snyders.

Where does the square end on the latch return spring go? Inside the door or just left the way it is and tighten the screws. It seems to cause the latch to bind either way. Are there some adjustments I need to make to the latch?

Thanks,

See #4. You have to tuck the spring past the metal edge of the door as you install the latch assembly. It's a tight fit and tough to not scratch the paint.

Thanks, Tom. I had looked at your post and thought the spring needed to go inside, but it was really difficult to fit. Once inside, it jammed the latch and the latch did not work. Now that I know where it is supposed to go, I think it is just a matter of getting everything aligned properly.

I wonder how much time Ford allocated on the assembly line to get the latch assembly in the door in the first place?

Having just gone through the same struggle with both doors, that same thought came to me as well.
