where on a 36 frame will I find the #ss

The most accessible one is on top of the left (driver) frame rail by the front cross-member. They can be challenging to to raise from under years of grease, dirt, and rust.

On a 36 it's on top of the left frame rail and near the steering box mount. This is the most common area for 35-37. You should check the entire top of the left frame rail from the firewall to the front crossmember as they were stamped while the car was moving on the assembly line.

On a RHD chassis it should stamped on the RH side of the chassis rail near the front cross member.

Trev, i have found those numbes from the frame horn on front of frame , and any place on frame all the way to cab and even under the cab, some were stamped very lite, rust remover and wire brush time,
