Default Points block, not integral anymore?

What gives?

http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/point-block

This was integral on a points plate i had. New ones appear to be fitted later.

Oh.. and the new ones appear to have the points in a different orientation, so the rotor will be a some degrees different.

I've never seen a points block that was integral to the upper plate. Could you post a photo? The points blocks from Snyders have worked well for me. You can cinch them down tight so the points don't close up while driving. Big improvement over worn out original points blocks.

'27 & early '28 plates had integral cast point blocks, later '28 & on had screw on adjustable point blocks. Being able to align the points added to their life.

Mike,
I think I have one in my stash of disti parts that I can show you next time we see each other. You may need it for your E28...

Thanks Ray and Dave. I looked it up in the JS and there were photos of the two early upper plates with built in points blocks, and were used until late 28. That's what I love about Ford Barn. Always something new to learn.

The forged plates had the points block molded in.

Not to hijack this thread but does anyone know of a source for Model B point blocks?

The Model-B point blocks were mounted integral with the plate by means of rivets. I don't believe that Ford supplied them as a separate replacement part. I have a several of the NOS Ford plates and the point blocks are integral with the plate, but can be adjusted by rotating them on their pivot pins.
