Default Body Fasteners - Cabriolet

I am at the point of trying to put a 68-B body back together and I am looking for some intelligence on the correct fasteners to use when assembling ALL the metal panels to the subframe. This includes the floorpan to subframe and the rear quarter panel to subframe bolts - everything except the body to frame bolts.

Has anyone researched and documented these correct fasteners? It does not appear that any of the parts suppliers have pulled these together in a kit.

Thanks for any help that would save me a hundred trips to the hardware store

Well this list goes back a bit...

Not sure it is 100% correct. I do not remember the nails, but I do know you need to pre-drill a small hole cause the wood is hard. The face of the door post needs a round head nail and you really need to get the pre-drill right as you do not want to mess up!! That was scary for me to nail. I do not remember the source of the nails, I was given some by another restorer that got a bunch of them.

FWIW, most of this was covered on Bob's website. If open up to load all messages you can do searches with the browser.

nails, most small flat head nails work, pre-drilling needed in my case as I made sub rail out of oak..very hard... the flat head nails leave some room in vertical door area for panels...most about 1/2 ti 3/4 inch long...most important is door to jamb spacing with top header fastened...it all has to work together...

I believe the flat head nails are used in areas such as the lower quarter panels to the wood sub frame and in areas that do not show. The round head nails were used in areas such as the door jamb and quarter panels to the wooden door pillar.
The screws that hold the curved inner panel are the same as the other cars with the rumble. The base of the rumble seat is fastened to the wooden sills with round head wood screws. The hardware book by Mick Isbell is very useful and can be purchased from MARC or MAFCA. It will give the sizes and photos of the specific screw or nut . I put one together and ALL the fasteners were missing. What I could not find at swap meets I bought from Roy N or A & L Specialties Ph # 860-693-0112
