I am totally with all of you on this. And there will never be another generation like the one Tom Brokaw dubbed 'The Greatest Generation'.

A lot of political crap out there about him. But in my book he was a hero, and a great President! RIP

I took a C-5 with the first load into Daharan as a trip wire when Saddam went into Kuwait. Sheridan tanks and Airborne troopers. Bush got us in, did the job and we left.
In 1968 I was an Army chopper pilot in Viet Nam. Johnson got us into a quagmire with no end. We wondered if he even wanted to win.
No comparison.

Odd notes

I think his first carrier landings were on the Wolverine or the Sable in Lake Michigan.

Picked up by a sub after being shot down.

No bone spurs on this guy!

Ditto on what each of you said. I read a story about how H W liked to fish. Had a fast boat built after elected [with his own $$$]. His priority was to have comfortable dry seats for security personel who accompanied him. Says a whole bunch about the man. m

From what I have read about his running his boat some of the seats may not have been as dry and as comfortable from the inside after a good fast run... lol.
