Default 1943 Pic of Cars

Here's a picture taken at Pimlico race track in 1943.
Quite a few convertibles.
With gas rationing it's funny there were so many cars at the track.

Wow, excellent photo. Wouldn't you love to be able to walk through that parking lot and pick one...? Back in the fifth row (from the front) there is a '42 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet (next to a '39 Lincoln Zephyr) that looks to have "black out" shades on the headlights and the add on fog or driving lights...

Very few oldies in there, the vast majority appear to be less than 5 years old.

Great photo.

Mart.

I was kind of surprised at how many convertibles there are.

Nearly all gas hogs too. Maybe rationing didn't apply to rail birds.

It would appear from the picture that this was the "affluent" group with all the Buick, packard and huge collection of Chrysler products. Must be the Fords all went off to war ? Who better to "get er done" ?

That war food rationing seemed to keep people trim. O WAIT , fast food hadn't been invented yet. I'd rather have seen the hired help's parking lot with probably more earlier Fords.

A great picture ! I looked at it a long time. I only saw 2 cars with side mounts which were pretty popular right up to 1940/41. If you want to see a lot of Fords They ain't gonna be at the race track, you would have to look in a factory parking lot - those guys had day jobs!
