Default Hood latch plate 1940 ford or 1939 or 1940 mercury?
Working on a 40 pickup hood that was missing the latch plate . Digging around I found what I thought was a 40 standard or pickup V8 latch plate. However it doesnt match up
I took a picture of one in a pickup hood and the black one that doesn't fit.
Is it a mercury or a poor reproduction?

I'm trying to figure out what the black one is. I dont think it's a 40 deluxe but could be. I dont have any deluxe hoods to compare it to.I know it's not a 39 ford deluxe.

The "black one" appears to be a '40 deluxe. Compare it to the photos in Drake's catalog. To my knowledge those latch plates were never reproduced.

It is the correct hood T-Plate but it appears to have cadmium plated bolts in the two holes where black rubber bumpers are used.
