Bendix replacement Question - 1935 Ford
Hello folks!
I have broken the bendix starter gear and sleeve (original one) 2 things broken: Bendix Starter Drive Shaft Sleeve and the Main gear (10 tooths). Question: I'm thinking to ordering from Mac's a USA Bendix Style to replace, but I saw that have a modern style one that fit to the 59AB engine. Have somebody used this new style? Is it better than the original style one? tks Rod |

Re: Bendix replacement Question - 1935 Ford
I would stick with the original I like the sound of it. Also there is nothing modern or new
about the style from Macs or anybody else. Some grinding required on your housing cause the barrel is fatter than the origional. |

Stay with the OEM starter as you know it's dependable and will fit.

Re: Bendix replacement Question - 1935 Ford
I rather go out in the pile of used starters and dig up a used one then buying the aftermarkets of today...
Springs bolts and lockwashers i still have plenty of new ones...when they re gone it´s back to the gamble of buying parts today... Some of the moderns do fit and some you need to grind the bellhousing for clearance. |

Re: Bendix replacement Question - 1935 Ford
Done! I will keep the original one (Bendix), but i just know Mac that sell the one bellow:
https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_m...-usa-made.html This is a US Made reproduction or a Original Bendix? Where do you guys recommend to buy a new one? Used ones are impossible to found in Brazil, and the feel ones are expensive ( around 200 USD for one) |
