Radiator / antifreeze question
Can someone tell me how many gallons of coolant the model A system holds?
Should I mix anti freeze 50:1 like any car? Please confirm there is "NO" thermostat - if there is one where? Thanks |

Re: Radiator / antifreeze question
Therre is no thermostat, but I install them on my A's. 2 1/2 gallons should work, and I always use 50/50 antifreeze. Any antifreeze and never had a foaming problem.

Re: Radiator / antifreeze question
No thermostat was originally used in a Model A.
Cooling capacity 3 gallons......1 1/2 gallon of undiluted antifreeze (full strength) mixed with 1 1/2 gallon of distilled water (no minerals,no rust) will give you -34F protection. |

Re: Radiator / antifreeze question
If there is a thermostsat it should be in the top hose
Even though a thermostat was not original from the factory it is a good modification in my opinion, for me it has been worth 2-3 mpg and cleaner oil, I have always used antifreeze year round. |

Re: Radiator / antifreeze question
Don't buy seasonal anti-freeze like I did a few years back. Buy permanent anti-freeze. The seasonal only last for one season. I almost lost a D8 dozer using seasonal.
