Default On The Road With The Merc

Still not fit to harvest here but plenty nice enough for a "leaf tour" in the Merc this afternoon. i took this shot on the winding road into the creek. Unfortunately I came to a spot in the road that was under water so I had to back out and head home without getting to the really good scenery. HIt some terrible rough places in the road where it had washed in the heavy rains but got down into Low on the Mercomatic and slowly picked my way through without high centreing. Hope the Gopro recorded all the way.

nice photo Ralph. we here in the midwest have had enough rain this year too. still standing water in some farm fields, and some that never even got planted this year. extra deep frost last winter caused gravel road damage that i have not seen in the 43 years i have lived here. AOC must be correct, we are down to 11 years left !

Naa. As long as "big gubmit' keeps sending money [crop subsidies] to my relatives north of Callaway everything will be fine.

No crop subsidies for us. We spend the big bucks to grow the crop and are left at the mercy of what the big grain companies offer to pay us. All we were offered here was a loan against the unharvested crop that has to be repaid. Might be difficult if the weather does not let us harvest. Hopefully I will collect a little hail insurance for the hail storm that struck our crops last Tuesday night.
But this is getting a little off topic. Here is another Merc photo from today parked on the hillside by the creek.

Thanks for the enlargement Pete. Bigger is better. And I will say that the video turned out great too. Camera mounted on the external sun visor for a good over the hood view but still picking up the sound of the exhaust. It got a little loud on that winding climb out of the creek in second gear. Will make some good video when I get a new editing program.

I sure do like the looks of your part of the world. It would do well if some of us city slickers remembered where our food comes from.
Thanks, farmer.
