Mystery color

Hi, I'm new here (piecing together a 41' business coupe) and came across this 40' Ford and was wondering what color it is? Is it possibly a custom color or from a different make?

I can't really see the color on here but they made an Easter special color as they did in some years. In 41 it was Hawaiian Bronze. I only ever saw 1 which was bought new in 41. Could have been in 46 but I think it was 41. Really a pretty color. G.M.

I cannot see that as a "spring color" more like a fall pumpkin color. Never saw a forty with that color.

My first car at age 15 was a real nice 41 Ford Coupe Hawaiian Bronze, cost me $50.oo for the car. that was in 1955

"Hawaiian Bronze" I like that! Thanks for sharing. Did Ford carry over colors from previous years? The paint chips I've come across don't seem to list everything. Any other custom or limited edition colors out there?

The mystery 40' Ford pictured may have been a custom mix?

You know I have to confess "old timers" must be setting in. The 41 Easter colored 2 door was Navaho Brown. This was a friend of mines mothers car. He painted his 32 fenderless roaster Hawaiian Bronze. If you think Hawiian Bronze is nice take a look at Navaho Brown. All this was 65 years ago so give me a little break guys. G.M.

Could be but I thought it was Navaho but could have been Seminole. It was an orangish color. I haven't seen that color for years. My grandaughter works for DuPont and used to be the one that made the formulas for the new paints to match the old car colors. She sent me a CD of all the old colors. I'll have to see if it's on the CD. If not I'm going to get her to find it.G.M.

I just Googled "ford easter colors" and found a site with them listed and Seminole Brown was the 41 color. I would like to see a GOOD chip of it. My 36 roadster was was an easter color, Bambalina Blue. Everyone loves that color. There was a question whether Choach Maroon started as an easter color and went on as a production color? G.M.

I wonder how many colors carried over from Lincoln? The Continentals probably had custom ordered colors.

Here are a couple old Ditzler 41' Ford & Lincoln paint chips to compare. WHo knows how these have aged or how the sheets were scanned into the computer. A lot of variables. All of the Concours Lincolns I've seen (on line) are a lot brighter than these colors.

I know this is off track a bit from the Ford discussion. Links to an example of two restored cars the same color (Paradise Green) that both seem brighter than the paint sample above. (and both different from each other) Maybe the lighting/ photography had something to do with that. (or the day the paint chemist mixed the formula)

You don't want to take one of these old chips and try to have a paint store match it. You need to get the paint manufacture to get the formula for the type of paint you are going to use. You can't take a DuPont formula to a PPG dealer they need a PPG formula. I tried the paint chip match job a few times and it was no where near what I expected. G.M.
